Jim Heinrichs President / COO

After educating at PIA and WSU (specialized degrees in Aeronautical and Avionics Engineering, also FAA & FCC licensed), Jim’s first career stop was at Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, KS heading an experimental group in Avionics & Electrical Engineering to successfully secure FAA single-pilot certification for the Cessna Citation Jet products. Later relocating back to his home town of Pittsburgh he supervised many engineering projects in the Steel and Aluminum industry for both Master Engineers, Inc. and Jacob Engineering, Inc. Upon the decline of the steel industry, he joined Miller Printing Equipment Corp. serving as a Web-Application Engineer, then later as Service/Installation Manager. When Miller was purchased and closed by Man Roland in 1990, Jim joined AIS as National Sales Manager and shortly thereafter also lead the Electrical Department. By 1995, Jim was promoted to Vice President and began serving on the Board of Directors. In April of 2010, he also added the responsibilities of corporate Treasurer and Secretary. Since December 2015, Jim has served the consolidated companies as President / COO. He continues to be deeply involved with many customers, projects, and of course the entire AIS staff as part of his daily routine.

Al Knisely Vice President

Al earned a BS Degree from Mansfield State University, where he met his lovely bride Becky, now they have three sons. Al served as a Site Quality Manager for five years at Aycock Inc. in Camp Hill, PA. Since 1986 he has been an integral part of the AIS team, first as our Operations & Warehouse Manager, then as a Sr. Project Manager.

Marty Green Sr. Project Manager

Marty attended Harrisburg Area Community College obtaining an Associate’s Degree. Majored in Architectural Design and Drafting, with additional classes in Civil Engineering and related mathematics. Marty began his career at Saxton Air Systems as a draftsman, but was promoted to Project Engineer within six months. Saxton was a Design / Build / Contractor specializing in Industrial Ventilation Systems, Material Conveying, Pollution and Dust Control, Industrial Boilers and drying systems related to the wood processing industry. He came to AIS as a Project Manager, initially helping to establish the process piping portion of our company, following through the next year assisting with the selection of talent and equipment to begin the fabrication shop. His current responsibilities include generating estimates, proposals and contracts for both our Graphics and Industrial customers. This preliminary work is followed up on successful bids with project management duties including system layout, design/detailing, purchasing, working with field crews and sub contractors to assure a quality installation for our customers.

Joe Herwig Project Manager

Joe used his veteran benefits to attend and graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he joined consulting firms designing airports and highways before entering the construction business. Joe specialized in industrial construction responsible for thousands of projects over the years including some of the most complex projects in central Pennsylvania. He also spent years developing and managing an Industrial Division for a general contractor and was also the Vice President of another general contractor leading a 300% plus growth over a 2 year period. He brings to AIS a lifetime of experience in conceptual engineering, estimating, proposals, project budgets, project management, safety, quality, project schedules, project documentation and troubleshooting ensuring customer satisfaction. In his spare time Joe enjoys spending time with his family, motorcycle riding with his wife and traveling.

Jim Hess Sr. Project Manager

Jim graduated York County Vocational Technical School in 1972 from the machinist program. Between 1972 and 1979 he was employed at BMY in York, PA as a welder, then from 1979 to 1989 as a supervisor in the welding and machining areas. Due to a workforce reduction in late 1989, he left BMY to join AIS in as a welder/millwright. In 1996, Jim had opportunity to work for Harris Graphics in Nashville, TN where after several mergers and buyouts the company eventually became known as today’s Goss International. In late 2009 a further workforce reduction at Goss International returned Jim back home to AIS as a foreman/project manager. His years of experience with an OEM manufacturer have given Jim a new perspective of customer expectations and performance quality.

Barb Lamer Controller

Barb graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Accounting. She later worked for four years in public accounting while earning her CPA License. Subsequently, she worked for Strathmeyer Forests and Susquehanna Pfalzgraff before joining AIS in 2000 serving as the Accounting Manager. In 2010 Barb was promoted to Controller, and in 2010 her department won the prestigious and coveted “Most Improved Department” award. In her spare time, Barb enjoys spending time children at the pool, or rooting for the Steelers.

Stephen Campbell Director of Operations

This young man was fortunate to “grow up” in the “family business”, an early break-out of the original AIS founders. He apprenticed both in the shop and office, until joining the field force full-time in 2004. His many experiences widened his knowledge of rigging, millwrighting, process piping, and electrical installations of various equipment brands in both the graphics and industrial industries. Unfortunately, in 2009 the family business was forced to close its doors. Soon after, AIS purchased those assets, and Stephen came on-board to share his experiences with us. After four years of outstanding work with our field crews, serving frequently as a Foreman, in 2013 AIS took the obvious next-step to promote Stephen to a Project Manager position. Upon engaging his new echelon, he tutored with our long-term Project Manager, Dan Dillman, prior to his retirement. Dan’s positive influence and “customer perspective” will serve Stephen well for many years to come. Stephen has always had a passion for professional sports, primarily hockey, football, and baseball, although he played a lot of soccer as a youngster. He’s set the remote control aside however, to pursue a more exciting adventure. Stephen and his wife Lindsey are the proud parents of three wonderful children including twins! They are in good hands. If you are fortunate enough to work with Stephen on your project, we are confident that you too will be in good hands.

Greg Kyle Fab Shop Manager

Jeremy Miller Network Administrator

Employed with AIS since February 2011, Jeremy is the resident Network Administrator. Coming from a strong background in IT, Jeremy has been fixing computers, servers, networks, and printers (usually with very few left-over screws) for more than 20 years. In his spare time, Jeremy loves spending time with his wife and two sons, rooting for the Steelers, and still plays with Legos.

John Fennell National Sales & Marketing Manager

John holds a B.S. in Economics from Siena College – Loudonville, NY, and an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute – Troy, NY. His extensive 40+ year sales and marketing resume includes: Curtiss-Wright Corporation – Buffalo, NY, Al Tech Specialty Steel – Dunkirk, NY, and HFW Industries – Buffalo, NY.

Andy DiVito Regional Manager

After earning a BA in Communications Journalism and Public Relations from Shippensburg University, Andy embarked into a career of Marketing and Advertising. His proven ability to manage key accounts and large-scale projects in print and outdoor media as well as his experience in Public Relations has sharpened his skills to enhance our customers overall experience. With additional training in Safety, Project Management, Operations, and Field Projects, elevating his proficiency, he is well suited to expand our niche service offerings and client fulfillment. In his off time, Andy enjoys spending time with his family, working out, and is an avid Boston Celtics fan.

Jared Haas Business Development Manager

Jared earned a BS Degree from York College with a double major in Business and Behavioral Science. Jared previously worked in sales and project management within the electrical industry for seven years providing and installing low voltage electrical systems for GE. Most recently he worked in sales and account management for a wholesale distributor of pipe, valves, and fittings that covered the industrial, mechanical, food processing, and government sectors. Jared enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and coaching youth football.
